How to Create a Fun Photo Booth

photo booth1

One of the ideas I have been itching to use is a fun & silly photo booth. When we starteed to plan for a party this weekend, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to try out this idea.

Props: The first thing that you need to do is gather some props. I utilized a number of sources and have lots more ideas for next time! If you start looking around at old costumes and kids toyboxes, you’d be surprised what you can find.  Another source of props is online templates.  I was able to find a number of templates for glasses, mustaches & lips.  Here are a few to check out:  http://www.marthastewart.com/article/mustache-on-a-stick .  You can also find some fun props in big box stores, dollar stores, party stores and craft stores.

Here are some ideas:
Hats (Cowboy, baret, top hat)
Tiaras
Feather Boas
Aprons
Glasses
Suit Jackets
Tutus
Chalkboard for thought bubble
Empty Picture Frames
Crazy Wigs

Backdrop:  There are  variety of ways to do a backdrop for the photos.  You could hang fun fabric, old curtains, wrapping paper on the wall.  We elected to use a very basic background to emphasize the people, but next time I am going to try a fun back drop.  Here is a great idea for a photo frame wall.  This is a really fun way to do this and very simple.  This is also on my list for next time. http://ruffledblog.com/diy-photobooth-vintage-wallpaper-frame-wall-backdrop/

Photographer:  This one is really key.  It’s important to have someone dedicated to this effort that is very skilled in drawing out the funny expressions of your guests.  We were lucky to have a very talented pair take on this very big responsiblity.  Thanks to Sara and Cody for all the silly fun!!

It was a bunch of fun and I thought I’d share with you a few photos from that adventure…more to come.

Fun & Festive Holiday Party Centerpeice (oh, and cheap)

Lollipop Centerpiece

My whole party decor was inspired by a whimsical red, white & pink lollipops!    The theme for the party was Winter Wonderland and I wanted it to be fun and light-hearted.  The color scheme was lime green, red, pink and white.   This centerpiece was really inexpensive and simple to do!  I used 4 of these for my tablescape.  The container and lollipops came from Target’s Dollar Spot.

What You Need:

Fun Container
Whimsical Wrapped Lollipop
Green Florist Foam (Any Craft Store)
Shredded Paper

  1. Cut the green florist foam to fit in your container and place it in the container.
  2. Place the lollipop in the green florist foam.
  3. Top with crinkle paper to cover the green foam.

That’s it.  These cost me about $4 each.  Cute.  Simple. Cheap.  Perfect to dress up any celebration!

I am excited to share this fun dessert table that I created in partnership with the very talented Carrie from Carrie’s Creative Cuisine.  We had a lot of fun creating a the tasty menu and a fun color palette for this table.  Carrie did an amazing job creating beautiful and tasty treats for the event.
The tasty treats we included were: Espresso shooters, white chocolate covered Oreos, white chocolate cranberry bars, ginger blondies, coconut macaroons, cream puffs, hobo smores and Jelly Belly jelly beans. Enough with the words…here are some yummy photos.
