Diva Shindig: Hollywood Premier with Jerry Lewis Twist (Part 2)

KJ 50th-043-3772

So we talked about favors and personal touches, now let’s talk about food!!  The food was fantastic.  It was created by the very talented Carrie of Carrie’s Creative Catering.  Here is a snapshot of the treats.  So many of my favorites all in one place…YUM!

Fabric stores are becoming my best friend when it comes to treat tables.  There are really endless options for fabric.  I really loved the black, white and red fabric I found for this party.  It was fun and had a pop!

KJ 50th-087-3822

Because the fabric was a little busy, I kept the back drop simple.

What says movie premeir more than silver stars!

KJ 50th-010-1283

This popcorn was a special request from a local candy store.  It was so fantastic!!  You’ll also notice the boa..I love boas.  I really use them every opportunity I get.  :-)

KJ 50th-012-1285

YUMMY Carrot Cake Pops, Chicago Style Popcorn and a variety of shooters.

KJ 50th-055-3785

…you know how I feel about whoopie pies!  I needn’t say more.  Ummm…where can I get a whoopie pie at the Toronto airport…umm…back to my task at hand.

KJ 50th-045-3775

Decadant Fudge Brownies that were amazing.

KJ 50th-001-1271

I know I started with dessert first, but that is my favorite.  The appetizers were amazing too, but the desserts were super amazing. Beautiful crostini!

KJ 50th-003-1273

These first made their appearance at my husband’s bacon birthday party.  They are amazing!!!  Wrap a tator tot in bacon, secure with a toothpick and bake.  These are NO JOKE!

KJ 50th-005-1278

Aren’t fresh veggies beautiful.  They truly are simple, colorful and fantastic.

Diva Shindig: Hollywood Premier with Jerry Lewis Twist (Part 1)

KJ 50th-034-3763

This party was so much fun to plan.  From the moment that I met the sweet gentleman that was planning this party for his significant other I was completely excited.  He was so much fun to talk with because he shared so many details about the guest of honor.  He shared fun stories of their travels together and their passions.  It was no doubt that he was excited to throw her a fabulous 50th birthday party.  After talking with him, the movie premier theme seemed like a perfect fit.  One of the great details he shared was her love for Jerry Lewis, so we added simple black frames with Jerry Lewis movie posters to the favor table to make it just KJ.  She even once had the opportunity to meet him and froze up.

KJ 50th-085-3818

She also had a love of popcorn.  So we filled popcorn containers with fresh home made carmel corn.  This carmel corn is always the biggest hit, but do you want to know my little secret?  This is that it’s the recipe from the puffed carmel corn bag. We then topped it with a thank you tag to complete the favors.

Another personal touch that was super quick, easy and inexpensive was this photo banner.  First I cut 12 x 12 paper into 4 – 6×6 squares.  Next, I trimmed 4×6 photos to 4×4.  I attached the photos to the paper with double sided tape.  Finally, then taped a length of ribbon to the back and it was all set.

KJ 50th-009-1282

Of course, every movie party needs fresh popcorn!

And a red carpet!

DIY: Bow Tie M&M Favor

IMG_1768

I saw a cute bow tie made from a bag of M&Ms. I wanted to make it a little more glam for my Glam Girl party. So, I added some ribbon to it and I think it turned out really cute!

You only need a few items:

1.5″ to 2″  Wide Ribbon

Bag of M&Ms

Tape

Scissors

IMG_1835

Step 1: Cut 2 lengths of ribbon. 16″ and 6″.

IMG_1839

Step 2: Align the ribbon to the bottom of the bag and tape it in the middle lengthwise of bag.

Step 4: Gather the ribbon in the center.

Step 5: Wrap the second ribbon crosswise around the wrapped bag of M&Ms and tie in a knot.

DIY: Simple Flower Hair Clip

IMG_1847

I am always on the lookout for party activities and crafts that are not your standard party craft.  I was on the hunt for a glamorous hair craft.  When I saw these ultra adorable flowers at Michael’s, it was perfect.  The best part is that they are so simple.  So, I wanted to share!

IMG_1707It requires 3 items and a pair of scissors and 5 minutes.

Clip Barrette

Felt Flower

Felt Sticker Backed

IMG_1709

Step 1: Cut a piece of felt shorter than the flower and approximately 1″ wide.

Step 2: Take off the backing of the felt.  Open the clip up,  place it in the center sticky side up and close it.

IMG_1708

Step 3: If the felt flower has a wire, clip it to be shorter than the strip of felt so that it will be covered by the felt.

IMG_1711

Step 4: Set the flower face down on the table, place the barrette/felt sticky side down on the center of the flower and firmly press on the felt so the flower adheres.

IMG_1712

That’s it!!  You now have a fun versatile accessory.  You can use it as a hair clip, add it to a headband or to a jacket!   We purchased our barrettes and felt flowers at Michael’s.

Shindig in a Box: Glam Girl Table

IMG_1797

What is glam to you?  Me…glitter and damask.  So, this is my take recent spin (my guess is there will be many, many more) on a Glam Girl party!!

IMG_1791

Table runner is gift wrap.  I find gift wrap to be fantastic way to inexpensively add flair to a party customized to your theme.

IMG_1808

Of course, this party was a little bit of fun.  So, I added some hot pink margarita glasses filled with iridescent shred.

IMG_1796

I love boas.  I really don’t know what that says about me, but I love them.  ;-)  Adding a boa to a table scape always takes it up a notch.

IMG_1794

I found this fabulous silk rose bouquet that was the perfect centerpiece for a glamorous party.

IMG_1793

Like I said, nothing says glamor like glitter, so this 12×12 paper was the perfect place mat.  The requested color palette for this party were purple and pink…which I think is perfect.   With the 12×12 paper  place mat, I always prefer square plates because I think they layer nicely.  Okay…I just prefer square plates always.

IMG_1790

Should kid parties include wine glasses?  A glamor birthday party should!!

IMG_1787

IMG_1783

Packing this Shindig up and sending it to a very glamorous 6 year old!!  Hoping we get some real party pictures from this party!! Hint….hint….

Shindig in a Box: Glam Girl Treat Table

IMG_1819

I love treat tables!  I really, really do.  I was so excited to get the request to do a purple and pink glam girl party for a sweet 6 year old.

What fun it was!!  I have a few DIY posts to come in addition to the details.

IMG_1809

When I found these jewelry boxes I was so excited because the were the perfect color.  Super cute too!  And they were made to be decorated.  So to kick off the party, each girl will get a box with necklace, bracelet, ring and boa.  Bring on the glam.  Next, the girls will decorate the boxes to be one of kind.

IMG_1778

Nothing says glam like a boa.

IMG_1758

So, I used a hot pink boa to add some instant glamor to the table.

IMG_1760

I simply wrapped it around the bottom tier of this tray.

IMG_1777

I was so pleased with all of the great purple and pink stuff I found.  One of my favorite features was the fabric purple glitter fabric I found for the table cloth.  Too bad you can’t tell how fabulous it is in the photos.

IMG_1775

1″ wide ribbon makes quick and easy bottle wrap.

IMG_1768

I really love how these little bow tie M&M’s.

IMG_1767

DIY to come on this.  They are super simple and perfect for a Mr. Man baby shower or Father’s Day celebration.

IMG_1764

White chocolate strawberries are always perfect for a glam party.  Of course, a little extra sparkle with sprinkles is always in order.

IMG_1761

Candy or popcorn cones are a really easy way to add coordinating touches.  I have used this damask paper many times because it’s so classic.  The containers were filled with a green foam and crinkle paper.

Stay tuned for more details and DIY!

Goodnight for now!
